Winter in Vercorin

Skiing

The village has great skiing with lovely tree lined pistes. There is a bubble lift station situated in the village and about 150m from the chalet, When the snow is good you can ski down from the Chalet or walk a little way 300m. You can easily ski back to the Chalet and finish where you started. Vercorin is connected to all the other villages in the valley and one lift pass means you can ski in all these other villages, so effectively you could ski somewhere different everyday. You can buy your ski passes at the bubble station. The cost of hiring skis, boots and helmets and a weeks ski pass is approx.£800 for a family of 4 persons. The sports shop is about 300m from the house where you can hire boots,skis and helmets.

The Swiss ski resort of Vercorin is part of the Sierre-Anniviers Ski Area with access to 53 individual pistes. In addition to the skiing in Vercorin itself (14 pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Sierre-Anniviers ski resorts of Grimentz, St-Luc / Chandolin and Zinal.

With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable.

Ski Schools

There is no better way to learn to ski than with professional instruction. There are two ski schools ready to welcome you in Vercorin, but they are not just for skiing. Instructors also teach snowboard and telemark. Always at your disposal, the ski schools offer lessons adapted to all levels and ages. Your kids will feel well looked after and will make quick progress. All thanks to the ski schools, which offer private, semi-private and group lessons. We also have a crèche on the mountain for children aged from 2 years.

If the children are very little or total beginners they have their lessons just up behind the Chalet at the Garden de neige, which is the sports center in the summer. After a few lessons they can have a lesson at the top of the mountain where there are some easy slopes. You need to take the bubble up to the Cret du Midi (second stop) and there is a meeting point there. You can take the bubble down the mountain after the lesson. The lessons cost 44 chf about £22 for a morning, starting at 9.30am and finishing at midday, for 5 lessons it costs £85. They can also have private lessons in the afternoon which cost about £40 for 2 hours.

Other winter sports

These include sledging from the top of the mountain, 1000m this is organized by the Ecole de ski et Snowboard.

There is also Telemark skiing, cross country and ski walking with snow shoes.
